Welcome to Japan! I’m Hiroaki Miyaoka—please feel free to call me Hiro.

Based in Kawagoe, Saitama, I am a licensed freelance tour guide offering full-day private tours across Tokyo and Saitama.

In my free time, I love playing the flute and going hiking in nature. I live in Kawagoe with my wife, Kahori, who is also a licensed tour guide, and our sweet lovebird, Epi.

Before starting my journey as a tour guide, I spent 38 years as a high school social studies teacher in Saitama after graduating from Waseda University in 1982. Drawing on nearly four decades of teaching history, geography, and culture, my goal is to offer more than just typical sightseeing. I create immersive, “educational field trip” style experiences where you can discover the deeper stories, hidden gems, and authentic local life of Japan.
