Yesterday, on April 26th, I visited Ashikaga Flower Park, in Tochigi Prefecture. Currently, wisteria, azaleas, and rhododendrons are in full bloom. It was my first time there, and it was even more spacious, beautiful, and well-maintained than I had imagined.
Food is available in the park, but on sunny days, bringing a bento box and enjoying it on a bench is also a great option. With lunch included, you can easily spend three hours here.
It takes about 2 hours by train from Tokyo Station. The nearest station is “Ashikaga Flower Park Station,” right in front of the park, and it’s about a 3-minute walk to the entrance from there.
The entrance fee is currently at its highest, 2,200 yen for adults. While you can enjoy the park all year round, the high fee is set because now is the time to enjoy the most beautiful flowers. It’s interesting that the fee varies depending on the season and the condition of the flowers.
It’s advisable to visit the park’s website to check the opening hours and what kinds of flowers you can see.
I think this time of year, when cherry blossoms are over and May is approaching, is the best season to visit.
